The importance of the upload form on YouTube A How-To-Guide

Uploading videos to YouTube can be daunting! What if you forget information or submit the wrong information? Will my video reach my target audience? How will I get viewers to engage?

YouTube is a video-sharing website that has over 2 billion users. Your goal on YouTube is to gain views and drive viewers to your website. Once you drive viewers to your website you are now able to monitor their behavior, connect, and make sales.

Uploading the proper information into YouTube is essential for the success of your video, lucky for you we have created a How-To-Guide.

The first step is to: Sign in to YouTube Studio.

In the top right-hand corner, click CREATE Upload video.

Select the file you’d like to upload.

DETAILS SCREEN/BASIC INFORMATION

Title and Description (this shows under your video)

Take the content you have written and Copy and Paste.

Thumbnail

This will be the image that is displayed before someone clicks on the video. Thumbnails are important because the thumbnail along with the title and description will entice a viewer to click.

Audience

Unless you are reading bedtime stories or selling kids toys… no you are not made for kids.

Age Restrictions

The flip side to that is age restrictions. As long as your content is for adults and not “adult content” you will select, No, don't restrict my video to viewers over 18 only.

More Options

Always click on more options. Here you can optimize your video for local search.

Paid Promotion

If you are promoting your own product or service, you can skip this section and leave the boxes unchecked.

Tags

Copy and paste the tags you wrote in you writing formula template.

Language

Set your language to your target. Most likely this will be English if you are in the United states. Set your video location to your Google My Business listing. You can do this by typing your business name (the same one you use for your business listing) into the search. Once you see the name of your company click on the location. This will help you optimize your local search (local SEO). If you don’t have a Google My Business listing, check out our how-to guide. Or contact us for help.

License and distribution

If you are just promoting your own product and service, you will select a standard YouTube license. Make sure embedding is checked and “Publish to subscriptions feed and notify subscribers” is checked.

Category

Set your category to match your industry. When in doubt, just choose People and Blogs or Education.

Comments and ratings

Set to hold inappropriate comments. Sort by top, and make sure “Show how many viewers like and dislike this video” is checked.

In the ever-evolving digital landscape, establishing an online presence is paramount for every business. A well-structured and designed website can greatly enhance your brand's visibility and credibility. However, the process of creating a website can be daunting, especially when confronted with decisions like the cost of hiring a designer, how to find a suitable one, or opting for a do-it-yourself (DIY) approach using website builders like Wix or Squarespace. Making an informed choice can be challenging, but it's not impossible. Figuring Out Your Budget and Time: The Classic Decision Building a website involves an investment of both time and money. Hiring a designer can cost between $100 to $200 per website page, whereas setting up a website yourself might consume around 4 hours per page. It's a classic time or money conundrum that forces you to reassess your priorities. Do you have the design skills to build a website yourself? If not, using DIY applications may extend the time it takes for you to establish your online presence. However, if your budget is tight, investing your time into learning and implementing the process might be a viable option. DIY Website Builders: A Blessing or a Curse? Website builders like Wix, Squarespace, and WordPress have made website creation accessible to everyone, regardless of technical expertise. But are they always the best choice? Wix Pros: Wix offers an intuitive drag-and-drop interface and a variety of templates, which make it easy for beginners to create a website. It also provides advanced features for more seasoned users. Cons: The flexibility of Wix can also be its downfall, as the wide range of options can be overwhelming. Its SEO capabilities have been criticized, and the free plan comes with ads. Squarespace Pros: Squarespace is known for its sleek, professional design templates. It offers comprehensive features and excellent customer support. Cons: Squarespace's pricing is slightly higher compared to other builders, and the platform can be less intuitive for first-time users. WordPress Pros: WordPress offers incredible flexibility and control, with thousands of themes and plugins. It's a great choice for blogs due to its strong content management system. Cons: WordPress has a steeper learning curve compared to other builders, and you may need to handle updates and security measures manually.
