About The Mental Mechanics

The Mental Mechanics is the coaching practice of Shawn Huber, who coaches high achievers in private and group sessions, serving the Franklin and Nashville area and clients nationwide online. The site draws a clear line: this is coaching, not therapy. For this coaching website design project, the job was to move a Duda site with blog posts going back to March 2022 without losing them, then give the brand a sharper niche.

The challenge

Why They Came to Us

Shawn's site lived on Duda, held blog posts going back to March 2022, and was positioned around mindset coaching, a crowded category.

  • The Duda export held 40 pages, many of them leftover funnels: five-day challenge pages and replays, a past webinar, registration, pay-now and thank-you pages.
  • Duda's own post data was missing 15 of the 58 published posts, and the posts' images lived on Duda's servers.
  • The positioning leaned on named courses and 12-session language.
  • In August 2026, Shawn moved his practice from Palm Harbor, FL to Franklin, TN, so the address, hours and local signals all had to change.
The plan

What We Proposed

The work grew in steps. After the rebuild and the repositioning, our August 2026 marketing audit ranked the next moves.

  • Create a Google Business Profile and start asking clients for reviews.
  • Hold off on Google Ads until reviews and a local listing are in place, because executive coaching is expensive to advertise.
  • Stop chasing the dictionary-style searches drawn by one old post about close friendship.
The build

What We Built

Website

A static rebuild on Vercel with 19 pages and 59 blog posts, and every old blog link redirected.

  • All 58 Duda posts migrated, including 15 recovered from the old RSS feed, then restructured with section headings, short paragraphs, step cards, key takeaways and FAQ accordions.
  • 42 blog images pulled off Duda's servers and 559 image references rewritten to local files, so nothing depends on Duda.
  • 66 legacy redirects: every old root-level blog slug to /blog, renamed program pages, and retired pages routed by visitor intent.
  • Audience pages for entrepreneurs, equestrian riders, baseball and soccer players and teen girl athletes, plus how it works, methods, group sessions, speaking and contact pages.
  • Structured data for the business, the coach, services on nine pages, FAQs, articles and breadcrumbs, and the site is editable in My AI Editor.

Repositioning

From mindset coaching to mental wellness coaching for high achievers, rolled out across 73 pages in June 2026.

  • A new home page hero, Private vs Group sessions, and a "Not Therapy, Not an App" comparison with an explicit coaching-not-therapy boundary.
  • Five audience pages reframed, and named courses and session-count language removed.
  • A July 31 follow-up added a "We Don't Work With Everyone" audience filter and moved his coaching methods to their own page.
  • The lead magnet was renamed the 5-Day Mental Wellness Reset to match how people search, with 14 name variants consolidated across 74 pages.

Free group session funnel

A sales page for a free 90-minute group session that closes on a nine-question matching questionnaire, fed by a research article.

  • /free-group-session explains how a session runs and ends on nine questions that work as the seating chart for each room.
  • /lonely-at-the-top is the content magnet: an article on why high achievers lose close friends, built on four cited research figures.
  • Structured data for the service, the free offer, the article, FAQs and breadcrumbs, with navigation and the sitemap updated across 78 pages.

Content Studio

His Content Studio plans and drafts content against his strategy and publishes to his blog, Facebook and Instagram.

  • Five content pillars read off his real Search Console data, plus a sixth, The Room You Don't Have, built around the funnel.
  • The studio cannot invent statistics; only the four research figures already published on his site are allowed.
  • Blog posts publish straight into the site, with the image, blog index entry and sitemap entry added automatically.
  • His Facebook Page and Instagram are connected, and auto-publishing was verified live on both in September 2026.
  • A photo library seeded from the website: 77 unique images in three albums, each flagged ahead of time if Instagram would reject its shape.
Problem solving

How We Solved the Hard Parts

  1. Content Duda would not hand over

Duda's own post data missed 15 posts, so we recovered them from the old RSS feed. We also pulled every blog image off Duda's servers, so the new site depends on nothing from the old platform.

  2. Searches that never turn into clients

The most-seen old post was found mostly through dictionary-style searches. We retargeted it in place, keeping its URL and the text that earns its rankings, and built the group session funnel for the people who share the feeling it describes.

  3. A long questionnaire that still submits cleanly

Pressing Enter moves to the next question instead of sending a half-filled form. Answers to the two pick-several questions are packed into single fields, so no choice gets dropped on the way to the form service.

  4. Moving the business without losing local signals

When Shawn moved to Franklin, TN, we updated his address, schema, service area and hours, Eastern to Central, across 70 pages, and the author bios on all 58 posts. We also added a Franklin location page and a hypnotherapy page.

  5. Heavy images and fonts

An August 2026 speed pass self-hosted the fonts, served the home page hero as a preloaded WebP, and cut the image folder from 21.1 MB to 9.6 MB. It also added a favicon set Google can show in mobile results.

Results

The Results So Far

Live today: the rebuilt site on Vercel with all 58 migrated posts and 66 redirects, the free group session funnel since August 28, 2026, and the Content Studio, which published its first blog post into the site on September 3. An internal WES audit after the speed pass found 0 critical issues across 76 pages, with all structured data valid.

We are not sharing traffic or lead numbers for this project. What we watch next: consultation and group session requests, and how the new Franklin and hypnotherapy pages do in search.

Stats are build facts from the site's files and git history: migration counts from April and May 2026 and before-and-after file sizes from the August 16, 2026 speed pass.

Questions

Questions About This Project

Did the old blog posts survive the move off Duda?

Yes. All 58 posts came across, including 15 that Duda's own post data had missed, and every old blog URL redirects to its new address.

What happens to a coaching site when the business moves?

We change it everywhere in one pass. When Shawn moved to Franklin, TN, the address, hours, schema and author bios changed across the site, and a Franklin location page went up the same day.

What does the Content Studio do for a coaching practice?

It plans content against the strategy pillars, publishes blog posts straight into the site, and is connected to his Facebook Page and Instagram. It cannot invent statistics; it may only use research figures already published on his site.
