The client

About Salon Bilancio

Salon Bilancio is a salon in San Rafael, in Marin County, for NBR beaded-row hair extensions and Aveda color. It also trains new stylists through its own apprenticeship program. When the owner chose a full salon website design over a straight copy of her Wix site, we rebuilt everything around how the salon actually works, from consultations to hiring.

The challenge

Why They Came to Us

The owner found us through the Schedule a Call form on our website in August 2026. Her tools were spread across different platforms, and her first priorities were organizing customer service and sales, then hiring and training new staff, with marketing last.

  • The site ran on Wix, forms on Jotform and landing pages on ClickFunnels, with separate email marketing, Google Workspace and Phorest for point of sale.
  • The NBR consultation application and the salon's policy documents lived in Jotform.
  • Her Wix media library mixed 18 licensed stock images in with her own work, and three showed extension methods the salon does not offer.
  • An old 2013 sitemap from before the Wix site was still registered in Google Search Console.
The plan

What We Proposed

Our Website, Systems & Marketing Proposal laid out three phases and promised not to add technology for its own sake. It offered a straight migration, with a concept mockup showing a full redesign as the alternative, and she chose the redesign.

  • Phase 1: move the site off Wix, consolidate Jotform and ClickFunnels, and create one central place for leads.
  • Phase 2: hiring, onboarding and training.
  • Phase 3: marketing systems through the WES Content Studio.
  • A concept mockup of the new home page, which she approved on August 29, 2026.
The build

What We Built

Website

A full redesign off Wix, live October 2, 2026: 77 pages generated from one set of page builders.

  • More than 20 core and service pages, a careers hub and policy pages, plus 49 blog posts moved with the old Wix /post/ addresses redirecting to clean, flat URLs.
  • Sitemap and page titles shaped by research: 12 months of Search Console and GA4 data from three comparable salon clients, distilled into 9 patterns.
  • Every photo is the salon's own, from the owner's funnel archive, her personal and salon Instagram accounts and a checked subset of her Wix library. Before-and-after photos are never cropped.
  • Self-hosted fonts, WebP images and a full mega-menu. All 72 pages in the sitemap return cleanly with the right canonical address.
  • Analytics on accounts the salon owns: GA4, Google Tag Manager and Search Console, tracking leads plus phone, text and email clicks.

Custom forms and signed documents

Jotform replaced with forms built for how the salon works.

  • The 21-step NBR consultation application rebuilt as 17 one-question screens with conditional branching, scaled so no screen scrolls on any device.
  • A signing engine with on-screen signatures, each stored with a fingerprint of the exact policy text, so the version a client agreed to stays provable.
  • Five signed documents and an emailable care plan live at launch.
  • The installation agreement stays on a dedicated e-signature product on purpose, because it carries the liability waiver.

Hiring section

Careers pages and new-hire forms built around how the salon hires and trains.

  • Careers hub, assistant role, apprenticeship, shadow-day request and application.
  • A new-hire forms page with the owner's 10-week training breakdown and employee handbook.

Admin portal

One private place for the salon's leads, set up October 16, 2026.

  • Inbox, leads, spam review and a blog chooser.
  • Linked to the salon's Content Studio.

Content Studio

A content plan built on what people actually search, set up October 16, 2026.

  • Six pillars read off 90 days of Search Console data: Color in Plain English, Choosing Your Extensions, When Extensions Go Wrong, Thinning Shedding and Density, San Rafael and Marin, and The Teaching Salon.
  • Its first content batch was prepared the same day.
Problem solving

How We Solved the Hard Parts

  1. Proving every photo is the salon's own

The owner's Wix library mixed licensed stock in with her own work, including images of extension methods the salon does not offer. We traced every photo to a source she owns, removed the rest, and set a standing rule: her own photos only, no stock, no AI.

  2. Replacing paid form tools without faking success

Both custom forms refuse to show a thank-you until a real endpoint accepts the submission, so a broken connection can never hide behind a success message. They went live at launch with a dedicated reCAPTCHA key.

  3. Keeping a liability waiver sound

Most documents moved to our signing engine, which stores a fingerprint of the exact text with each signature. The installation agreement carries the liability waiver, so it deliberately stays on a dedicated e-signature product.

  4. Search data muddied by an Italian word

The second word of the salon's name is also Italian for balance sheet, so hundreds of its search impressions come from Italian corporate-filing searches that will never book an appointment. We leave them out of our reporting so growth is never overstated.

  5. Old signals from an older site

Our Day 0 audit found a 2013 sitemap from before the Wix site still registered in Search Console. We removed it, resubmitted the current sitemap, and confirmed all 72 sitemap pages return cleanly.

Results

The Results So Far

Salon Bilancio went live on October 2, 2026, about six weeks after the owner first reached out. Our first WES SEO audit, 13 days after launch, scored the live site 69 out of 100, and that day's fixes to titles, social sharing tags and local business schema took it to 97.

It is too early for lead or booking numbers. The admin portal now gathers the site's leads in one place, and our Day 30 audit in November is the next checkpoint.

WES SEO audit score on our 100-point rubric, measured on the live site on October 15, 2026, before and after that day's fixes; launch timing uses the inquiry, proposal and launch dates on record.

Questions

Questions About This Project

Can you replace Jotform with forms on my own website?

Yes. For Salon Bilancio we rebuilt a 21-step consultation application as 17 one-question screens and built a signing engine for policy documents. The one agreement that carries a liability waiver stays on a dedicated e-signature product on purpose.

Where did the photos on Salon Bilancio's site come from?

From the salon itself. Every photo traces to the owner's funnel archive, her personal and salon Instagram accounts, or a checked subset of her Wix library. Stock images were removed, and before-and-after photos are never cropped.

How long does a salon website redesign take?

Salon Bilancio went from first inquiry on August 18, 2026 to a live 77-page site on October 2, 2026, about six weeks. That included a concept mockup the owner approved before the full build began.
