National Sign Team: a new nationwide site with every known URL kept

National Sign Team runs multi-site sign programs for franchise, restaurant, retail, fitness and healthcare brands, from design and permits to fabrication and installation, coast to coast. In this sign company website design project, we moved them off Duda to a new site of more than 200 pages with every known URL kept, plus an admin portal and a Content Studio.

About National Sign Team

National Sign Team is a nationwide commercial sign company. They manage multi-site sign programs for franchise, restaurant, retail, fitness and healthcare brands, covering design, project management, permitting, fabrication, installation, rebrands, conversions and decommissioning. Every program gets one named project manager. For a team that works nationwide, good sign company website design has to show that reach and make it easy for a brand, or an installer, to get in touch.

The challenge

Why They Came to Us

National Sign Team's Duda site held years of content and showed up in plenty of searches, but few of those searches became clicks, and the move itself carried real risk.

  • A lot to protect: about 170 blog posts, and 181 URLs Google had shown in search in the 90 days before launch.
  • Plenty of visibility, few clicks: about 70,000 search impressions in 90 days at a 0.5% click-through rate, with terms like 'national sign company' at the bottom of page one and on page two.
  • Sign types buyers search for, like monument, pylon, awning and wayfinding, appeared zero times in 170 posts.
  • Duda forms never fed a lead pipeline we could see, and spam was getting into HubSpot.
  • The old site sent an HSTS preload header, so a missing security certificate at cutover would have locked browsers out.
The plan

What We Proposed

We started with six homepage design directions built from NST's own copy and project photos, then planned the full site and a content strategy around their real search data.

  • Six homepage directions. After two revision rounds, NST chose Marquee, a dark, cinematic look that puts their illuminated signs front and center.
  • A sitemap built into the approved homepage: every link named its future page, and client spotlights came from one template and a data file.
  • A blog plan checked against all 170 old posts, so new posts fill gaps instead of repeating them.
  • A Content Studio strategy aimed at the click gap on terms NST already ranked for, with five content pillars.
The build

What We Built

Website

A site of more than 200 pages in the approved Marquee design, with a mega menu that always matches the pages and 52 lead forms at launch.

  • More than 200 pages today: service, product and 8 industry pages, 21 client spotlights and more than 150 blog posts, about 148 of them moved from Duda.
  • The Marquee look, with client install videos cut from 140MB to 6.2MB for muted hero loops, and every page editable in My AI Editor.
  • A mega menu fed from the site's own data, so it can't drift from the pages it lists.
  • 52 forms at launch through one shared handler, with a separate thank-you page for each kind of request so GA4 can count them, plus six gated cut-sheet downloads and, since October, a blade sign checklist.
  • SEO pillar pages added after launch for national sign company, multi-site programs, restaurant signage, sign maintenance, project management and blade signs.

Admin portal

A private back office in NST's navy and flag red where every request lands by type.

  • Project Requests, a module we built for NST, shows each project inquiry with the program, number of locations and timeline, and highlights ASAP jobs.
  • Separate views for vendor applications and cut-sheet downloads, with a stat card for each sheet.
  • A leads pipeline board, an inbox and a Spam and Blocked tab.
  • Lead alerts by email, and one login that gives each NST user the portal, the Content Studio and the site editor.

Content Studio

A marketing portal with a strategy built from NST's own Search Console and GA4 data.

  • Five content pillars, from the National Rollout Playbook to The People Behind the Program.
  • A photo library of about 770 images in 20 albums, about 300 of them NST's own installed work.
  • Blog posts publish straight into the site; we built a step that trims NST's large page template so the publisher can handle it.
  • All 9 social posts scheduled for its first two weeks went out on both Facebook and Instagram.
  • Short reels, including a project management teaser cut from NST's own shop-floor footage and a blade sign reel with an AI voiceover.
Problem solving

How We Solved the Hard Parts

  1. Moving 200-plus pages without losing search history

We built the URL list from the old sitemap and Search Console together, 212 URLs in all, and every one works on the new site. All 181 URLs Google had shown in the prior 90 days returned a working page on launch day, and posts that only existed on Duda were rebuilt at their exact old addresses.

  2. A cutover with no room for error

Because the old site sent an HSTS preload header, browsers would refuse the new site without a valid certificate. We had the certificate issued before DNS settled and kept NST's Microsoft 365 email records intact through the switch.

  3. Spam getting into HubSpot

Every form on the site now posts through one handler with its own reCAPTCHA key, so junk is rejected before it becomes a lead, and the admin portal's Spam and Blocked tab shows each one. In the site's first two weeks, 25 submissions were rejected, all bots, and nothing legitimate was turned away.

  4. Google answering with the wrong page

Google was sending project management searches to 2023 blog posts, while the service page drew 9 impressions in 90 days. We rebuilt the service page as the main page for the topic, with FAQ answers written for how people actually ask, and gave the old post a narrower focus at the same URL.

  5. Link scanners eating one-time links

NST's email runs on Microsoft 365, whose link scanners can use up a one-time link before a person clicks it. We changed sign-in and approval links so opening one only previews, and a Continue button completes the action.

Results

The Results So Far

The new site went live on September 13, 2026 with all 212 known URLs working. Comparing the latest 35 days with the 35 days before launch, website sessions are up 34%, and Search Console shows the average position improving from 20.2 to 15.7 over equal 33-day windows.

It's early. The pillar pages and Studio posts are aimed at terms NST already shows up for, and the next thing we watch is whether those better positions turn into more project requests.

Sessions come from GA4 and average position from Search Console, each comparing equal windows before the September 13 launch and up to mid-October 2026; the URL count combines the old sitemap with every Search Console page.

Questions

Questions About This Project

Did National Sign Team lose any URLs moving off Duda?

No known URL was lost. We combined the old sitemap with every page in Search Console, 212 URLs in all, and all 212 work on the new site: 191 load directly and 21 redirect.

How does the site handle leads for a national sign program?

Each form is tied to a type of request and lands on its own thank-you page, so GA4 can count it. Project requests show up in NST's admin portal with the program, number of locations and timeline, and installers and fabricators go to their own Smartsheet forms.

How long did the build take?

NST chose a design on August 3, 2026, the build started August 9, and the new site went live September 13, about five weeks from first build to launch.
