Walker Tree Service: a Duda exit that kept all 74 blog posts

Walker Tree Service is a family-owned, licensed and insured tree company in Palm Harbor, Florida, serving Pinellas County. We gave them a new tree service website design and moved them off Duda with all 74 blog posts, then added five dedicated service pages, a private admin portal and My AI Editor, so the owner publishes his own posts.

About Walker Tree Service

Founder and owner Brian Walker runs a family-owned tree company that handles tree removal, trimming, stump grinding, palm care and storm cleanup across Pinellas County. The team serves homeowners, real estate agents, property managers, businesses and government agencies, with 24/7 emergency service. That is a lot of audiences for one tree service website design, plus a blog library of more than 70 posts.

The challenge

Why They Came to Us

Walker's website and its library of more than 70 blog posts lived on Duda. Moving off meant bringing every post over and keeping the old links working.

  • More than 70 blog posts and about 160 images had to come off Duda's servers.
  • Duda's theme marked post titles as H3s, not H1s, so a simple extraction pulled the logo and menu into every post.
  • Old Duda addresses, including truncated slugs and the old /home page, needed to keep working.
  • One site had to serve homeowners, real estate agents, property managers, businesses and government agencies, plus storm emergencies.
The plan

What We Proposed

Our approach was a modern rebuild, not a copy, with a few firm rules.

  • Bring every post and image over and host them with the new site.
  • Restyle the posts with a new layout but the same words.
  • Match the original Duda URL paths.
  • Put the owner on My AI Editor so he can edit and publish himself.
The build

What We Built

Website

A 94-page static site on Vercel, with the Duda blog brought over and restyled.

  • Main pages for services, specialties, projects and contact, plus a hurricane storm intake page, two standalone guides and a blog library that held 78 articles at the 90-day review.
  • 74 posts moved by launch day, about 160 images downloaded, and posts sorted into 5 categories.
  • 70 posts restyled with callouts, card grids, pull quotes, stats rows and calls to action, without changing a word.
  • Multi-step forms for free estimates, evaluations, a priority scheduling program for real estate agents and hurricane intake, protected by reCAPTCHA v3.
  • Hero and in-page images cut from 60.9 MB to 13.8 MB, plus accessibility fixes for ARIA, contrast and heading order.

Service pages and SEO

Five dedicated service pages and a 90-day SEO review with 10 fixes.

  • Tree Removal, Tree Trimming, Stump Grinding, Storm and Hurricane Cleanup and Palm Tree Trimming pages, added July 16, 2026, each with Service, breadcrumb and FAQ schema.
  • LocalBusiness schema with hours, payment methods, geo and five linked profiles, and BlogPosting schema on 78 articles.
  • Breadcrumb schema on 86 of 94 pages, and width and height set on 840 of 842 images.
  • 39.5 MB of unused image files removed.
  • An llms.txt overview of the site for AI search tools.

Admin portal

A private back office for leads, live since June 30, 2026.

  • An inbox with unread state and a leads pipeline.
  • A Spam and Blocked view for filtered submissions.
  • A blog publisher scoped to the site, plus user management with its own invite and password reset flow.
  • Themed in the site's forest green and orange, with all times shown in Eastern time.

Owner publishing

Owner Brian Walker publishes his own blog posts through My AI Editor.

  • Posts since launch include a Pinellas County storm prep guide, palm trees and curb appeal, storm clean-up and fallen tree removal, small tree removal, and a coastal palm trimming guide.
  • Publishing a post also adds its card to the blog index and its address to the sitemap.
Problem solving

How We Solved the Hard Parts

  1. Duda hid the blog's structure

Duda's theme marks post titles as H3, not H1, so a simple export grabs the logo and menu with every post. We rebuilt our extractor to pull only the article, and Walker's migration became the reference for our standard Duda migration process.

  2. Restyle 70 posts without touching the words

We added callouts, card grids, pull quotes, stats rows and calls to action around the original text, under a strict rule that the words do not change. Six AI agents working in parallel finished the pass in about 30 minutes.

  3. Old links had to keep working

We matched the original Duda URL paths, added redirects for the old /home page, old blog paths and truncated Duda slugs, and made trailing slashes consistent so visitors skip redirect chains.

  4. High-value searches had no page to land on

Tree removal, trimming, stump grinding, storm cleanup and palm trimming had no dedicated pages, so we built one for each, with Service, breadcrumb and FAQ schema, linked across the site.

Results

The Results So Far

At the 90-day review in September 2026, the site scored 78 out of 100 on our WES SEO audit. We shipped 10 fixes, measured the live site again, and it scored 90 with no critical issues left. In Search Console, the average Google position improved from 41 before launch to 27 at the review.

The owner keeps the site fresh himself, publishing new posts through My AI Editor. What we watch next is whether the five service pages move up for local searches like tree removal and tree trimming in Palm Harbor.

The score is WES's own 100-point SEO audit rubric, measured on the live site before and after the fixes; position is Google Search Console's average position.

Questions

Questions About This Project

No. All 74 posts came over by launch day, with about 160 images downloaded and hosted with the site. The new site matches the old Duda URL paths, and redirects cover the old /home page and truncated Duda slugs.

Can the owner update the site himself?

Yes. Owner Brian Walker publishes his own blog posts through My AI Editor, and new leads land in a private admin portal with an inbox, a pipeline and a spam view.

How long did the rebuild take?

46 days, from the first commit on April 19, 2026 to launch on June 4, 2026.
